The Biggest Loser is an American TV reality show where obese people compete to win cash prizes for losing the most weight. I thought it might be fun to decide who or what might be the biggest loser due to the dramatic changes brought about by the new Trump Administration.
One obvious contender for the prize has to be all the bureaucrats in Washington, who overnight are losing their jobs and income as DOGE and Trump move to slash jobs and make the federal government leaner and more efficient. As of last week, the President has slashed 275,000 jobs. According to some reports, homes listed for sale have soared, and jobless claims have spiked in the Washington D.C. region.
However, we think the Biggest Loser has to be the violent Mexican Cartels. Why? As everybody knows, the President has made mass deportation of illegal immigrants his biggest priority, and nobody knows that better than the migrants themselves. According to Michael Banks, the new US Border Patrol Chief, the number of illegal migrants stopped trying to cross the southern border has dropped 90% since January 21, the day after President Trump was inaugurated.
This has hurt the pocketbook of the Mexican crime cartels, as The Donald would say, in a HUGE way. According to ABC News, “Different organized crime groups control sections of the border…with each controlling what happens inside its own territory.” Almost all the migrants have to pay the Cartels, and the fee varies from as low as $10,000 to $100,000. If you multiply the low entry fee of $10,000 by the (at least) ten million or so who crossed the border during the Biden Presidency, you get a whopping $100 Billion earned by the Cartels over the last four years.
That’s just for starters. According to Wikipedia, “Mexico is an origin, transit and destination of sex trafficking, a global industry that earns profits of approximately $150 billion per year.” You have to wonder how many of the 300,000 unaccompanied children who migrated and are now “lost’ by the US government are now being sexually exploited! And of course, there is the illegal drug trade. By some reports, the Mexican Cartels make $500 Billion per year by exporting fentanyl, marijuana, cocaine and heroine into the United States. In reality, they are exporting death, for close to 100,000 young Americans die from drug overdose each year.
We think Americans of all political persuasions should applaud the decisive actions being taken by President Trump. He is in the process of sending 10,000 US troops to the US border. Mexico, responding to the threat of a big tariff increase, is also in the process of sending 10,000 troops to the US border. The migrants now know that it will be more difficult to cross our southern border, and even if they make it, they now think they will be immediately deported back to their own country, or even worse, to the Guantanamo Bay detention camp.
As a result of all this, it appears that the migrants have largely stopped trying to get to the United States. Thus, the Mexican Cartels are no longer collecting the hundreds of billions of dollars they earn each year from human and sex trafficking. They are also finding it much harder to sneak illegal drugs into the United States, so the hundreds of billions of dollars they make from drugs is also being slashed.
Losing hundreds of billions of US dollars might be the least of their problems. The Trump Administration has officially designated the Mexican Cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations. Subsequently, the CIA has secretly deployed unarmed General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper drones over regions of Mexico dominated by heavily armed drug cartels. In addition, Green Berets from the US Army's 7th Special Forces Group have been deployed to a naval facility in Campeche—a Mexican port city on the Gulf of Mexico—for what's described as a "training mission." Is the Trump Administration laying the groundwork for direct military strikes against the Cartels and their drug labs in Mexico?
If so, it couldn’t happen to a “nicer” group of people.
