President Joe Biden, with less than a week to go until the midterms, delivered a speech Wednesday night condemning political violence and urging voters to protect democracy. "American democracy is under attack because defeated President Trump refuses to concede that he lost the 2020 election.”
Even the widely respected and popular former President Barack Obama is getting into the act. At a recent political rally in Arizona, he gave a blunt warning about the stakes of next week’s midterm elections for America’s system of self-government. “If the Republican candidates here are successful, Obama argued, “Democracy as we know it may not survive in Arizona.”
“That’s not an exaggeration,” he added. “That is a fact.” No, it’s not a fact; it’s his opinion, and he is entitled to it – as is everybody in this great country of ours.
Anyway, upon hearing all this, we were reminded of former President Reagan’s response when he was debating the sitting President, Jimmy Carter. “There you go again!” Back on September 1 of this year, in what many claimed was a very divisive speech, Biden claimed that MAGA Republicans … “refuse to accept the results of a free election. They fan the flames of political violence. Democracy cannot survive when one side believes there are only two outcomes to an election: either they win, or they were cheated.”
Cheated? How about Hilary? Following her loss in 2016, Clinton alleged that the election was “stolen” from her. We’d give more credence to the President’s fears if he would have admitted that he and his party are not so lily-white in that regard.
American journalist and author Matt Taibbi puts it this way; “The Democrat “party considers the act of denial itself illegitimate and ban-worthy, if not criminal. But how can that be if, as the video shows, the party’s own leaders engage in the same behavior? How can declaring the 2020 election illegitimate be prohibited, if saying the same thing about 2016 was and is encouraged?”
Take a gander at the Youtube video Democrats' "Stolen" Election Claims | FLASHBACK - YouTube. You will see plenty of important Democratic leaders decrying the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election, claiming that the Russians hacked the election, and that Donald Trump was “an illegitimate President.” The culprits include former Senator Hilary Clinton, Majority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, and then Senator, now VP, Kamala Harris, among others.
In fact, Hillary isn’t stopping there. Looking into her crystal ball, she is now claiming that Republicans “already have a plan” to steal the 2024 presidential election.
However, if you are truly worried about foreign interference in our elections and a real threat to our democracy, we suggest you pay closer attention to the Democrat’s most famous election denier, Hilary Clinton.
We will quote liberally here from one of our favorite writers, Constitutional law professor Jonathan Turley: “Democratic leaders like Hillary Clinton have called on foreign companies to pass censorship laws to prevent Elon Musk from restoring free speech protections on Twitter. The EU has responded aggressively to warn Musk not to allow greater free speech or face crippling fines and even potential criminal enforcement.
For her part, Hillary Clinton urged her European counterparts to pass a massive censorship law to “bolster global democracy before it’s too late.”EU censors have assured Democratic leaders that they will not allow free speech to break out on Twitter regardless of the wishes of its owner and customers.
One of the most anti-free speech figures in the West, EU’s Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton has been raising the alarm that Twitter users might be able to read uncensored material or hear unauthorized views. (Heaven forbid!) Who gets to decide that?
Breton himself threatened that Twitter must “fly by [the European Union’s] rules” in censoring views deemed misleading or harmful by EU bureaucrats. Breton has been moving publicly to warn Musk not to try to reintroduce protections that go beyond the tolerance of the EU for free speech.
Do you see what is happening here? Unelected bureaucrats in Europe are going to decide what is misinformation, and what needs to be censored to “protect the American public. Who are they to decide for us what is misleading or harmful? Why would we ever allow them to censor what we can see. We are not children, and we can decide for ourselves. Talk about foreign interference. Censorship, no matter where it comes from, is a real “threat to democracy”
It’s coming, and, sad to say, our political leaders are the ones welcoming it.
